HOT HOT HOT - SINGLE/DIGITAL COPY

“Hot! Hot! Hot is HOT indeed!

It has been said by the great Bob Marley that “when the music hits you feel no pain”- This is justified in the recently released single by Dexta Malawi titled “HOT, HOT, HOT”. From start to finish the songs gives you a feeling of pure joy. With its bouncy and one drop rhythm and sound, Dexta Malawi takes you on an experience that leads to not cold, not lukewarm but hot! hot! hot!
“In the middle of the day the sun was hot-ta-tot, mi just cook some food ina mi pot-a-tot….I saw evil and stay far from that” is just a piece of the strong lyrical content that patrons are feasted with to their satisfaction. The song “Hot, hot, hot” is a genuine example of the journey that the average man or woman undergoes with inevitable temptations. However, it further outlines the choices that have to be made for the strengthening of one’s morality.
Produced and mixed by Dr. Dru Crump, the catchy melody leaves a sweet taste of laughter and reality in the minds of listeners.

WORLD IS IN TROUBLE - SINGLE/DIGITAL

“Whole WORLD is in trouble” – A reality tune by Dexta Malawi
In his own opinion and to a great extent reality, Dexta Malawi musically puts what he sees and knows about the world we live in today.
The global crisis in this song is said in four words- “Whole world is in trouble”.

A current account of the sufferings and inflictions caused by man’s ego and greed this reggae artiste states “the condition is critical, the political system hypocritical…” Babylon system artificial…”

He chants without fear of retaliation. For him, he is rebelling with a cause and bringing truth to light and words to warn, ‘wise up’ and uplift the people out of their mentally enslaved mind.

It is no co-incident that this single was produced by Iron Gate on a one drop popular old school rhythm. “Whole world is in trouble” documents an actual account of what is, yet gives relieve that ‘Love” is the answer.

PUT ON YA TURBAN - SINGLE/VINYL/DIGITAL

  1. Press_Release-Put_on_Ya_Turban-Final.pdf

DEXTA MALAWI, one of the bright young artists stepping into the frontline of Jamaican music today, has just completed filming a video for his new single “Put On Ya Turban”, recorded on a riddim by New Zealand Producer The Nomad, under his label ‘The Nomad Music’.

Malawi came to popular attention in 2013 with his first hit “Woke Up This Morning”, a happy song on a dancing beat by Bebble Rock Music that captured the ear with lyrics that drew mental images of a cool river, sunshine and upfull meditations. The popularity of 'Woke Up This Morning' opened many international doors for Dexta Malawi. He received thunderous applause at his most recent performance at the UNIA/ACL Marcus Garvey Centenary Festival in Harlem, New York in June 2014 and he travels to Germany in September for performances and studio recordings in Dresden.

The New Single entitled “Put On Ya Turban” is the first product of the linkage between Dexta Malawi and ‘The Nomad Music’ a linkage made possible by Kevin “Supa Nova” Salmon and the success of “Woke Up This Morning”. “Put On Ya Turban” is a tribute to the Bobo Shanty Order of Rastafari and is also a call-to-action for the youth, advising them to use education to lift themselves to higher heights on the Journey of life. In this song Dexta explains some of the journeys and challenges of a BoboShanti in his aim to exist in righteousness, to promote education and repatriation, to preserve African heritage and to enjoy and preserve nature’s magnificence. He explains that the BoboShanti wears the Turban and that the Bobo tribe is from Burkina Faso in Africa.

Dexta Malawi is not an official member of the BoboShanti Rastafari order but has trod with several members on his Malawian Journeys, who have taught him many lessons about discipline, spirituality, governance and life in general.  Dexta Malawi exemplifies these lessons, as a graduate of the University of Technology (UTECH), the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and the Media Technology Institute (MTI) of C.T.P.C. He holds a full-time job as an Environmental Engineer with the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA). He therefore saw it as fitting to pay this tribute to the Order of the BoboShanti.

Put on Ya Turban was recorded by Andrea Dippierro, and the logo artwork was done by Jimmy Stewart. The video for “Put on Ya Turban” is scripted by Andre France and filmed by Oarabile Tome and Kevron Turner of Cinematography de Turner.  The video shoot was done in beautiful Stony Hill, St. Andrew on 17 August 2014. The editing will be done in New Zealand by producer Damion Schwalger and the completed video should be released in October 2014.The song is currently available for download from ITunes.

Dexta Malawi spends a lot of time honing, recording, refining, performing and promoting his music, and is a popular artist at the live weekly music events taking place in Kingston such as Dub School, Vinyl Thursdays, Dub Club and Rockers Revolution Saturdays.  Known as a performer of both songs and poetry, he has more than fifteen songs already recorded and an EP, THE MALAWIAN JOURNEYS 1.0 coming in November 2014. Dexta Malawi is steadfast in his mission to “Reach The People”.

THE MALAWIAN JOURNEYS POEM

“Transparent and truthful is “The Malawian Journeys”

If no one knew the versatility of this artiste, then “The Malawian Journeys” shows a clear picture of who really is Dexta Malawi. His uncompromised stance penned with the perfect blend of metaphors, ambiguities and similes in this poetic piece, is a testimony that he is indeed a genius.

Using his natural talent, experience and intellect, the words flows fluidly, teaching while simultaneously taking you on a journey about the present, past and future. “The Malawian Journeys”- a self-titled tune offers an aura of reflection with an organic meditative rhythm that puts you almost in a trance.

Dexta’s musical and lyrical prowess is unquestionable, especially as he articulates his perspectives so well on “The Malawian Journeys”. This track also features serious yet comedic phrases that make you think deep, but with a smile. The Journey begins with “I welcome all newcomers and returnees…..if we should start a daycare for babies or a veterinary clinic that takes care of dogs with rabies…and culminates with…you would not believe the death and spread of diseases that’s cause by these intellectual thieves…a study mi study and get mi ten degrees….that’s why mi no want dem pon mi premises in the Malawian Journeys.”

Powerful, is the word that describes “The Malawian Journeys.” Proudly produced by Andre France and mixed by Dru Camp to be released in December 2014. It is an excellent presentation of food for mind, body and soul.
